UPDATE: Three new wildfires in the Grande Prairie area

UPDATE: Alberta Wildfire says the fires burning south and north of Musreau Lake are being held. They add that a 3.4 hectare blaze is burning in the Saddle Hills County and is also being held. Crews are working on digging up hot spots and extinguish the blaze.

The wildfire danger remains at extreme today in the Grande Prairie Forest Protection area and a fire weather advisory is in effect. The province says to use caution in forested areas today as fires will become large quickly and be tough to control.

Wildfire crews continue to work on a fire 5 kilometres south of Grande Prairie which is being held south of Musreau Lake but remains out of control north of the lake.

They also continue to battle an out of control 5 hectare blaze located near oil and Gas facilities in Saddle Hills County. Crews were working on a dozer line and it wasn’t expected to grow overnight.
