UPDATE: Manslaughter charges against Grande Prairie woman stayed

UPDATE: As of February 20, 2018, the manslaughter charge against Wright has been stayed.

A Grande Prairie woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault earlier this week. RCMP responded to an apartment complex in the city at 9:38 a.m. on May 11th.

The victim said she had been assaulted the night before by a woman named Barb who lived in the same apartment building. She passed away Friday and has been identified as Sherra Eckert. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Barb Wright of Grande Prairie has been arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter. Inspector Jack Poitras says they two were not roommates, but they resided in the same complex. The location of the apartment building has not been released.
