Evacuee info centre opens in Grande Prairie

An Evacuee Information Centre for displaced Fort McMurray residents is being opened in Grande Prairie. From 1 to 4 p.m. daily, evacuees will be able to go to the Montrose Cultural Centre’s Rotary Community Room to get information on local supports and updates on the situation in Wood Buffalo.

When available, Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership members will also have plans for re-entry. As the building is also home to the Public Library, the evacuees will also have access to computers and community resources. Library cards are being given out for free.

So far, about 50 families have registered at the Red Cross in G-P, and anyone who hasn’t is encouraged to do so. They’ll also be given free access to drop-in recreation activities at the Crosslink Country Sportsplex for the next month.
