Rain lowers wildfire hazard to high

Rain and cooler temperatures have lowered the wildfire hazard. The Grande Prairie Forest Protection area was marked at Extreme Hazard at the beginning of the weekend and now sits at High Hazard after some rain. Environment Canada says yesterday Grande Prairie received around 6.44 mm of precipitation.

The province says although it is cooler, the winds and dry standing grass are still a concern.

There is still a fire ban and an off-highway vehicle restriction in place across the province.
