Siphon Creek wildfire puts Clear Hills County residents on evacuation preparedness alert

An evacuation preparedness alert has been issued for some residents of Clear Hills County. The Siphon Creek wildfire in B.C. crossed the Alberta border last night and has made its way into the area.

If you live north of Highway 64 in Cherry Point, Bear Canyon or Cleardale, in Clear Prairie or Worsley north of Highway 64 and west of range road 80 secondary highway 726, you should prepare to evacuate on short notice. Residents are also encouraged to avoid moving to higher ground and stay away from heavily vegetated areas.

The Siphon Creek wildfire is out of control at 17,000 hectares. An evacuation alert is also in effect for parts of the Peace River Regional District.
