Hot weather prompts health concerns from Environment Canada

A special weather statement has been issued for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region. More temperature records are expected to be broken, which could pose a health risk for people not used to the heat.

Environment Canada says everyone should be cautious, but especially elderly people, infants and young children, and people with chronic illnesses. Residents are recommended to drink plenty of cool liquids even before they feel thirsty and to keep cool by dressing for the weather.

A high of 28 degrees is in the forecast, but a cold front should lower the temperatures to slightly above average by Thursday.
