UPDATE: Impaired driving charges laid in fatal ATV crash

UPDATE #2: A 21 year old man is now facing charges after last night’s fatal crash between a pickup truck and an ATV.

RCMP were called to the scene at 9:50 p.m. Friday where one man was found dead and another transported to the QEII Hospital. The deceased has been identified by his family but his ID has not been released.

The 21 year old man taken to hospital has been transported to Edmonton where he is in stable but serious condition.

21 year old Cole Penson of Grovedale has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and
impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He’ll appear in court Monday.

UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed there has been one fatality in the collision near Grovedale Friday night.

There were three people involved but there is no word on the condition of the other two.

RCMP say alcohol may have been a factor. Police continue their investigation.

STARS air ambulance has confirmed it responded to a motor vehicle collision near Grovedale around 10:00 pm Friday night. The crash happened at TWP RD 693 and Range Road 71 involving a vehicle and an ATV. STARS transported a 21-year old man was to the QE II Hospital in Grande Prairie.

RCMP have not yet said whether there were any other victims. Grovedale Fire Department also responded.
