Grande Prairie lacrosse teams host home openers

Home openers for Grande Prairie’s junior and senior lacrosse teams are this weekend at the Crosslink County Sportsplex. The Senior Chiefs will take on the Vermilion Rage Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 1.

This year’s squad is expected to play at a high level, with several members having been recruited. Hometown goalie Colton McCaffery played Senior B in Edmonton, while Hammond Jones plays Division II college in West Virginia and Junior A in Langley. His brothers Randy and Monty have also played Senior A and Junior A in Nanaimo and Burnaby respectively.

The junior Thrashers will host the Lloydminster Xtreme in the Junior B division 6:30 Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
