New radar boxes not intended for traffic enforcement

Residents around Grande Prairie may notice new radar boxes around the city but they aren’t intended for traffic enforcement. There have been two different types installed including the Jamar Black Cat Radar which collects traffic volume statistics. The other is the Miovision Scout which monitors traffic movement like which way a vehicle turns on a certain street.

Engineering Services says they have heard about people talking on social media using words like “stealth radar” and “enforcement cameras”. They want to inform the public that is not the case as they are generally used to collect statistics.
