Lakeland Eagles denied return to North Peace Hockey League

The Lakeland Eagles will not be returning to the North Peace Hockey League next season. The other teams have voted against their application to rejoin the league.

President Jack McAvoy says the McLennan-based team will be allowed to apply for the 2017/2018 at the spring meeting next year, adding they’ll again be told to complete their application according to the rules set out in the constitution. The Eagles were suspended from the NPHL with one game left in the 2013/2014 season due to a continued lack of players.

Both the Grande Prairie Athletics and Valleyview Jets have been accepted to return for 2016/2017. The Hythe Mustangs are the only other team still on a hiatus.
