Fire Advisory lifted at noon today in the County

The County of Grande Prairie will lift the Fire Advisory at noon today. After moisture and recent cooler temperatures, they will also be issuing burning permits once again.

Residents should always have a burning permit if they plan to have a fire during the fire season.

So far this season there have been 25 wildfires in the region burning more than 125 hectares. Fortunately, none started over the weekend. The wildfire 15 kilometres south of Grovedale is still 98-hectares in size but is now under control, meaning it’s completely contained and will be extinguished. The one across Highway 40 is 6.6 hectares and considered under control.
