The 12th annual North West Regional Skills Canada Competition kicked off yesterday in Fairview. High school students from across the Peace Region will be competing in areas like welding, baking, carpentry, and graphic design.
Skills Canada argues that by taking these skills outside of a classroom setting, youth can better see the level they re at and where their interests can take them. This also gives students an opportunity to connect with industry leaders. The competition will run all day today.
The regional winners will advance to provincials in May in Edmonton.
