City looking at other options for Wee Links Golf Course & Campground

The city won’t be going with Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park to run the Wee Links golf course and campground. The recommendation was up for a vote at Monday’s city council meeting, but it seemed like everyone on council had a different vision for what they wanted to see happen at the South Bear Creek Park facility. Community Living Director Garry Roth says it’s now back to the drawing board.

“We would have to redo the RFP and change the scope significantly; we can’t just reissue the same RFP and look for new bidders. We want to go back committee and council at some point and do what we call a Request for Direction… where they can provide us a little bit more clarity as to what [they’d] be looking for.”

With the setback, it looks unlikely that the golf course and campground will reopen this spring or summer. Renovations already in the budget will continue. The city took over management in 2014 after the facility closed down the year before.
