Firefighters continue to battle major blazes in B.C. Peace

On the other side of the border, there are six major wildfires burning in the areas of Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Hudson Hope. The largest is estimated at 4,500 hectares in size while 14 in the region are more than 100 hectares each.

Some of the evacuation orders have been rescinded, but alerts have been issued for the South Taylor Hill and Baldonnel areas, along with a state of local emergency in the Peace River Regional District. Fortunately, rain is in the forecast which could help firefighting efforts.
