Grovedale fire now being held

The wildfire 15 kilometres south of Grovedale is now listed as being held, meaning it’s not expected to grow past expected boundaries. It spread to 102 hectares overnight and crews are working to contain it with a dozer guard, along with heavy equipment and helicopters.

Another blaze has sparked on the other side of Highway 40 near Grovedale. It’s classified as out of control but is only 1.5 hectares in size.

County of Grande Prairie crews remain on the scene of a brush fire in Clairmont. It’s about 2.5 acres in size, but is surrounded by two sides of water and a control line that’s keeping it contained.

Crews are also back on the scene of a two acre fire in the Dunes gravel pit, and the grass fire on Saskatoon Mountain is being held.
