Fire advisory issued for Grande Prairie region

A fire advisory has been issued for the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area as the hazard reaches very high. The province says warm and dry conditions have exposed cured grass that pose a significant risk, especially with winds in the forecast.

The advisory means no new fire permits will be issued. Current ones are still valid, but any non-essential burning should be postponed. Campfires are still allowed, but remember to extinguish them by soaking the ashes and feeling for heat.

Only 3.77 hectares of land have been burnt by wildfires so far this season in the region. The fire advisory will stay in place until conditions change.
