Metis and Non-status Indians now included under Constitution

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that Metis and Non-status indians are under the constitution. They were asked to rule whether the federal government has the same responsibility to them as status indians and inuit across Canada.

All 600,000 off-reserve first nations and metis people will be impacted from the decision.

The case was launched in 1999 by Harry Daniels, a Metis leader who died in 2004.
