State of the City Address tomorrow

The Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce is playing host to Mayor Bill Given s State of the City address tomorrow afternoon. The address will be a reflection on parts of the previous year, and also a look forward to the Mayor’s vision for the city in 2016.

In the 2015 address, Given focused on things like economy with inclusion of the Site C Dam, agriculture, and energy. The new snow removal system that was utilized this year was also highlighted at last year’s state of the city address. This new system brought the ability for snow removal crews to get through residential areas within five business days.

Budget information was highlighted last year as well as the downtown rehabilitation project and the commitment of $20 million for the project over the next four years. At around this time last year, the Citizen Satisfaction Survey was released which is done every two years to determine resident views on quality of life in the city. The release was highlighted at the event.

The address starts at 11:45 at the Teresa Sargent Hall.
