Eastlink Centre pool floor will not move

A proposed movable floor that was going to cost the city over a million dollars to install in the 50-meter pool at the Eastlink Centre will not happen. The initial reasoning behind the project was to allow for more programs like tots programming or fitness classes. City council confirmed Monday that the $1,070,000 that was going to be used would be put away for later use.

Council will have further talks about the change of path for the project with some changes that could be looking at the idea of reducing the depth and slope of the pool. The recommendation came after City administration looked further into the movable floor and found that it was only possible with structural changes. With those changes plus the movable floor, it would put the project over budget.
