More parking at QEII Hospital

New parking stalls have been opened up around the QEII hospital to help relieve some of the pressure surrounding it. Executive Director of Capital Management of the North Zone Mike Linn says around 60 stalls were opened up for public and staff.

“There has been some new stalls added near the emergency department [and] some new spaces near MacKenzie Place, the continuing care centre, as well as close to the daycare at QEII. There are extra stalls sprinkled throughout for extra staff requirements as well”

He also says that when planning parking, they want to have as little impact as possible on the surrounding neighbourhood but emergency parking along with patient parking is a focus.

Linn explains that there has been early talks about extra parking with the city. A grassy lot near the city of Grande Prairie has recently been stripped of it’s park designation and would allow the city to look at other options for the land.
