Lost engagement ring returned to Grande Prairie woman

A Grande Prairie woman has been reunited with her engagement ring. Alycia Dunlap forgot it on a bathroom counter at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Thursday and when she went back minutes later, it was already gone. Devastated, she turned to social media to try and get it back, and had the ring in hand Monday night.

“All I know is that the person who had found it had come back to the hospital and handed it over to security. They had said that they had seen our story – I’m not sure if it was on the news or through just the Facebook post people had shared – and said that they’d had a change of heart.”

Dunlap says as much as she’s grateful and relieved to have the ring back, she’s surprised and hopes karma will reward the person who chose to return it. She and her fiance had tears in their eyes when they heard.

“It just felt like everything was going wrong all at the same time. It was just adding more stresses and sadness to everything else that was going on. We’ve been fighting an uphill battle and I just think that maybe now things are going to start looking up for us.”

Dunlap is thankful to everyone who shared her post, as well as several generous people who offered her their own rings. She says she won’t be letting hers out of her sight.
