Mary Brown’s extensively damaged by second arson attempt

The Mary Brown’s Restaurant in Grande Prairie was hit by arsonists twice in just over a month.

The Westgate business was extensively damaged by fire early in the morning of February 28th. A witness saw a flash inside the building around 5:40 a.m. and the fire department responded to extinguish the resulting blaze.

Back on January 12th, surveillance footage showed three people pouring gasoline over the floor and lighting a small fire by the back exit as they left. It was spotted and put out by someone walking by.

Fortunately, the other businesses in the strip mall haven’t been affected and no injuries have been reported. RCMP considers both cases arson and continues to investigate.
