Maintenance programs available for fire hydrants on private property

Making sure the red fire hydrant is well maintained on your property is your responsibility and Aquatera has launched a program to help. Business Development Associate with Aquatera Teresa Souliere says every year and after each use, the hydrants need to be inspected, flushed, serviced and tested.

Aquatera is offering an Annual Hydrant Service as well as Hydrant Plus Service programs that do cost money but varies depending on where you live.

In the County of GP, the regular Annual Hydrant service will cost home owners a minimum one hour $185 travel fee plus $295 for one hydrant to be inspected. Clairmont and Sexsmith hydrants can be inspected with the regular service for $395 for one hydrant. There is an increase in charges if you want the Hydrant Plus Service which includes a fall inspection to prepare for winter.

For the city of Grande Prairie residents, the cost will be $295 a year for one hydrant on the property. If there are more than one hydrant, the cost is an extra $85 for each additional hydrant that needs inspecting. There will also be a Hydrant Plus Service available. For people in the city, the cost is $450 a year.
