Proposed changes to the Eastlink Centre pool changing again

A proposed moveable floor that was going to cost the city over a million dollars to install in the 50-meter pool at the Eastlink Centre may not happen. The initial reasoning behind the project is to allow for more programs like tots programming or fitness classes.

City council will now look at not going forward with that project and instead look at the idea of reducing the depth and slope of the pool. The recommendation came after City administration looked further into the moveable floor and found that it was only possible with structural changes to the floor. With those changes plus the moveable floor, it would put the project over budget.

Council will have further talks about the change of path for the project at the next city council meeting.

The money for the floor was re-allocated from the Leisure Centre renovation project, which was put on the back burner. The 1.07 million dollars will now be put into the Future Expenditures Reserve.
