Grande Prairie celebrates National Youth Week

Today marks the beginning of National Youth Week.

Here in Grande Prairie, the city’s Youth CouncilĀ is promoting a number of activities planned for those aged 14 to 21.

Acting Youth Engagement Worker Kim Haiste says youth weekĀ will alsoĀ recognize the diversity and contributions young people makeĀ in the community.

“There’s quite a few events that are happening already throughout the community, so we’ve partnered with them. There’s a bunch of different drop-ins that youth can be a part of; there’s different things happening every day. The big event that’s happening for this year is we’re going to be having Youth Engagement Awards on Friday, May 2nd.”

Youth week runs through to May 7th, with activities like drop in floor hockey, a tie-dye t-shirt workshop, and Walleyball at the Eastlink Centre planned.
