Yukon woman killed in Alaska Highway crash

A crash on the Alaska Highway has claimed the life of a Yukon woman. The two-vehicle collision happened around 10 p.m. Saturday night at Mile 54 of Highway 97, north of Fort St. John.

RCMP says a southbound van had hit a northbound tractor trailer unit head on. The 52 year old driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation but it’s believed road conditions at the time may have been a factor.
