Former Nitehawk Alpine Ski Team racer and coach dies

A young former coach and racer from the Nitehawk Alpine Ski Team has died while skiing. Aimee Munroe passed away Friday after skiing at Marmot basin.

Vice Paterson Jason Paterson says that Marmot Basin ski patrol responded to a female skier who had fallen for unknown reasons on intermediate terrain. He explains that First Aid was given to Munroe and the patient was transferred to Alberta Health Services.

“We were saddened to learn that she later passed away. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family during this difficult time.”

A Facebook post by the ski team says they are devastated by the loss of Munroe and adding that she remembered as an incredible young lady. They also passed on their sympathies to her friends and family.

An investigation into what happened is underway.
