Recreation in the Peace Country being looked at from all angles

Information is being compiled and will soon be presented from the survey the people in the Peace Country received regarding recreation. The Joint City County Recreation Board presented the survey for the Regional Recreation Master Plan to parts of the county to find out what types of things were going to be the focus. Those in the areas of Grovedale and DeBolt as well as Wembley, Sexsmith, Beaverlodge, and Hythe were surveyed.

Councillor Rory Tarant says it should be in about a month that the public will hear more details on each of the topics’ results that are included on the survey.

“Everything from recreation and leisure. So what type of facilities are needed, where we need to see things expanded, what current facilities need to be enhanced, what types of activities people are engaging in whether it is walking or biking or swimming. ”

Different models are being looked at how recreation is run in the area.

“There is lots of different ways we can do things,” says Tarant. “Right now we have our recreation run individually but maybe there are joint ways we can do it.”

The Municipal District of Greenview, the County, and the City are all involved in the board. The survey was due in November 2015.
