Area for nursing mothers being added to Scotties arena

Organizers at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts are creating a space for nursing mothers after complaints that they were being forced to take their babies to another building. Many previous venues have had an area for breastfeeding, but as Revolution Place is a smaller arena, a mother’s room was set up in the Grande Prairie Curling Centre down the block.

Curling Canada has a long-standing rule keeping children out of backstage areas for safety reasons, as they are normally crowded and full of heavy equipment. The organization tweeted this morning that players had come to them with concerns and a private area is being set up in the building.
