February has brought a spike in influenza cases. Province wide there has been 363 more cases confirmed by AHS mid month with a jump in the North Zone as well. Earlier in the month there had only been 154 confirmed cases of influenza A but as we reach closer to the end of the month, AHS has confirmed 214 in the north.
Four more people have been admitted to hospital with confirmed influenza in the north but the only deaths due to influenza have been in Edmonton and Calgary zones with a total of 10.
More than one million Albertans have received the flu shot this season.
