Warm temperatures could mean thin ice

The Peace region is skating on thin ice. The weather has been unseasonably warm in recent weeks, meaning the ice on local ponds and dugouts may not be safe.

The County Regional Fire Service has ice rescue technicians at the Bezanson, Clairmont, Dunes and La Glace stations, but they would clearly prefer not have to put their training to use.

If you do find yourself out on thin ice you should try and head back in the direction you came from staying low on the ice, and pulling yourself out on your stomach until you can safely crawl to firmer ground.
