RCMP not responsible for Charlie Lake man’s death

The actions or inaction of police did not lead to the death of a man in Charlie Lake, B.C. late last month. After a nearly 11 hour standoff, 33 year old Mark Delawski was found dead in a home on January 31st.

Fort St. John RCMP set up a containment area after a woman reported she had escaped a domestic disturbance but her two year old son was still inside with his father. The son made it out of the situation unharmed.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. was called in to investigate and found no connection between his death and what officers did or didn’t do. The B.C. Coroners Service had already concluded Delawski was not killed by police.
