Rising Above requests recognition as a Residential Addictions Treatment Centre

The Rising Above Ministry is looking for support as a Residential Addictions Treatment Centre. On Monday night, council directed the Mayor to write a letter in support of the organization to the province. Along with the letter of support, a lease has been signed for the Ministry to move into the Young Offenders Centre which has been vacant since 2009.

Director of Rising Above Mel Siggelkow says the building will allow for their organization to increase their addictions and learning services. The program currently provides addictions recovery programming and houses about 9 men. With the group moving into the building, the Director says they will able to house about 15 men and provide more addiction support.

The Ministry says they are looking to get the ball rolling on renovations and to hopefully be moved into their new space by the summer or sooner.
