Man involved in Charlie Lake standoff identified

The man who was found dead after a standoff with police Sunday has been identified as a 33 year old Charlie Lake man. A home in the community just north of Fort St. John, B.C. was surrounded by RCMP after a report of domestic violence around 11:45 a.m.

A woman had made it out of the home, but the subject of the complaint was still inside with their two year old son. Mounties tried to make contact with him but could not. Nearly 11 hours later they got into the home and found Mark Delawski dead but the child unharmed.

The B.C. Coroners Service will look into the events that lead up to his death and see if there are any recommendations to avoid similar deaths in the future. The Independent Investigations Office is also looking into whether any offences were committed by officers involved.
