Sexsmith Emergency Response vehicle broken into

2 windows were broken and items taken from a county owned vehicle used by the Town Of Sexsmith’s Fire Department overnight Friday. County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Fire Chief, Everett Cooke says tools, that enable crews to help in an emergency situation, were taken from the vehicle such as hand tools and GPS units.

“We are anticipating to have it back in service this week. For damage, there were two different sheets of glass taken out of it, which is being addressed. Again, we are hoping to have it back up and running so that our residents and people of the county see no deviation from service, whatsoever.”

He says it is discouraging that someone would break into an emergency response vehicle.

Cooke explained that when this vehicle is out of commission and they have another medical call come in, they would have to take another unit. He says this would then take it out of service for another potential call that could come up.
