Rotary Clubs package over 200 thousand meals for children

President of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie, Dawn Miller is calling the STOP HUNGER NOW campaign this past Saturday, a successful event. Over 200,000 meals were packaged over the weekend to help keep kids fed and in school around the world. Miller says the campaign had plenty of volunteers and exceeded her expectations of about 600. She explained that the food packaged at events like these are usually sent to disaster areas or schools.

“Stop Hunger Now partners with hundreds of groups and is in 73 countries. It will go to their warehouse in the States and within 6 months it will have a location that it’ll go.”

Miller says the day was more successful than she expected and she thinks every volunteer had a good time. She says the club was originally going to do 50-thousand meals but it quickly grew with interest to 200-thousand.
The Club packaged 200, 125 meals.
