GP Police cruiser damaged and 3 men in custody after police chase

GP RCMP have 3 men in custody after a police chase on Tuesday afternoon. RCMP say Dale Joseph Yakimuk, Jessie Jean Gagnon, and Chanse Douglas Friesen are all facing numerous charges after the incident at around 3pm.

Police say a vehicle matching a description of a truck, that failed to pull over for the police earlier in the day, was spotted in Meadowview. Officers say they pulled up behind the vehicle, turned on their lights and the Dodge Ram backed into the police car. RCMP report that both vehicles were damaged and the truck then took off.

RCMP say they followed for a short period of time but lost sight of the truck. They say the truck was later spotted driving northeast of the city and all three people in the vehicle tried to escape on foot. Officers say they found the initial two suspects with help from the Police Dog Service. They say the third was found later and sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Yakimuk, Gagnon and Friesen are all being charged with theft over $5000, additional counts of theft, resisting arrest, possesion of break-in instruments, and possession of a restricted weapon without being holder of a license. In addition, Yakimuk is also being charged with having a firearm in a motor vehicle, failure without excuse to evade police, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, and assault with a weapon.
