Step n’ Stride returns to Grande Prairie September 20th

Grande Prairie residents are invited to lace up for the 14th annual Step ’n Stride fundraiser in support of people living with Parkinson disease.

Organizers say the event is open to all ages and is designed to be inclusive and accessible.

The fundraiser supports the Parkinson Association of Alberta, with money raised going toward programs, services and support for people living with Parkinson disease and their communities. The local Grande Prairie goal is set for $25,000, just just over $2,500 already donated as of August 12th.

The afternoon will also include opening ceremonies, a group warmup, food, entertainment, games, socializing and door prizes.

Organizers say Parkinson disease and atypical parkinsonism affect more than one in 500 people across Canada and more than 15,000 Albertans.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20, at South Bear Creek Pavilion. Check-in begins at 1 p.m., with a three-kilometre walk starting at 2:15 p.m. and a one-kilometre walk at 2:30 p.m. You can find more information, including links to register here.
