A resident of Fairview has been arrested in connection to a number of alleged thefts in Fairview.
Police say Fairview RCMP members were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle pulling a quad in a farmer’s field.
Mounties pulled the vehicle over a few minutes later.
Police say the driver did not have an active drivers license and the trailer pulling the quad was not roadworthy. RCMP issued tickets, and the vehicle was towed.
A few minutes later RCMP were dispatched to a call regarding stolen car parts at the UFA in town.
Upon further investigation, a battery, stolen from a truck at UFA, was located on the quad that was towed earlier.
A truck hitch that had been reported stolen was also located in the back of the seized truck.
The driver, who had earlier been ticketed, was located and arrested in relation to the thefts.
As a result of the investigation, a 32 year-old male resident of Fairview, was charged with: theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, and two counts of mischief.
The accused was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is set to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fairview on August 12.
