GPPL to launch ‘pocket library’ in Eastlink Centre

The Grande Prairie Public Library will be launching a ‘Pocket Library’ at the Eastlink Centre, and are seeking sponsors for the room.

The Pocket Library will be a modern, self-serve library branch located inside the Eastlink Centre.

GPPL says that residents will be able to browse the collection, pick up holds, and attend pop up library programs.

The pop-up library model is already put in place in communities across Alberta.

“Grande Prairie is growing rapidly, and we need to make sure core community services, like the library, are growing with it,” says Hailey McCullough, Director of GPPL. “Pop up libraries are becoming an increasingly popular way to bring library services into the places where people already live, work, and spend their time. I think what we’re working on here is a really exciting opportunity for a local company to have its name attached to a service and project that will be widely seen and used by our community.”

The total capital cost to launch the Pocket Library is estimated to be at $130,000. While the GPPL is seeking to find a founding naming-rights sponsor, sponsorship contributions at all levels are welcome and may help support the launch of the new community service.

The naming rights will be granted to a single sponsor, with smaller additional opportunities available, including in-kind contributions. GPPL says the naming opportunity is open to negotiation and customization and may include brand exposure through signage, recognition in digital and print marketing materials, and integration with library programming and promotions.

Anyone interested in sponsorships can contact the library.
