High Prairie RCMP investigating alleged social media threat towards High Prairie school

High Prairie RCMP will be increasing their presence around schools, after a TikTok post has been found allegedly threatening to target a local school.

Police say that on May 19, around 11:47 a.m., police were made aware of a TikTok post that had been seen by several students, indicating a threat to a school in the High Prairie area.

Mounties say the video mentions that the incident may happen on Friday. Mounties added that no specific school has been mentioned, and police are hard at work trying to identify the source of the video as well as the credibility of the threat.

High Prairie RCMP, as well as High Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section and Western Alberta District GIS have been called in to assist on the investigation.

Once more information is available, an update is expected.
