Costco, Grande Prairie Hospital Foundation team up for cool fundraiser

From May 4, until the 31, you can sponsor a paper pediatric penguin, during the Costco Pediatric Penguin Campaign.

100 per cent of the proceeds gained from the penguins, will be going towards the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.

“These penguins may be small, but their impact is huge,” says Sean Doerkson, CEO for Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation. “Every donation helps create a more comforting and supportive environment for children and families during what can be a very stressful time.”

While you are doing your Costco-run, you may notice Butterfly, who is the foundations therapeutic clown. She will be at the store on Fridays throughout the month. Butterfly will be accompanied by Fiber the Cyber Dog, who helps bring some joy into the pediatric units. Balloon animals will also be available while Butterfly is visiting.

Funds raised throughout the campaign will help support children who are receiving care in the pediatrics unit at the hospital. Some of the funds will be used towards buying enhanced medical equipment and vital distraction items such as games, toys, and other comfort measures.

The Foundation encourages the community to swing-by Costco and pick-up a penguin to help make a difference for local kids.
