Grande Prairie RCMP are looking for suspects in two seemingly unrelated robberies over the weekend.
At 7 p.m. Friday, a man jumped over the counter at the Mac’s on Resources Road. The clerk couldn’t open the till, so the suspect pushed the cash register to the floor and ran away in the direction of Poplar Drive. While no weapon was seen, the man pointed to his pockets in a way that made it seem like he had one.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, six feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark blue winter jacket, dark coloured sweatpants, work boots, light coloured gloves and a light coloured balaclava over his face.
The second robbery happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday at the Liquor Barn in the southeast side of GP. A man with his hoodie cinched tight around his face walked behind the cashier desk and demanded money while holding a knife. An employee put an undisclosed amount of cash in a bag and the suspect left southbound in a black, four-door car.
The suspect in this case is described as Native, 5’6″, and heavier set. His hoodie was bulky and blue, and he was also wearing black baggy pants worn low around his waist and dark gloves.
Fortunately no one was hurt in either robbery. Police can’t say whether they’re connected and ask for any information to be passed to the detachment or Crime Stoppers.
