The Grande Prairie and region Kidney Foundation will be hosting their second annual kidney and transplant forum next week.
The forum is hosted by the northern Alberta and territories branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. During the session, a hand-full of different speakers will talk about numerous different topics ranging from nutrition and pain management, to mental wellness and navigating the transplant journey.
Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn tools, and receive trusted health information from experts.
“Last year’s forum showed just how important these conversations are for our community,” says Krysta Gendreau, Community Engagement Manager for the NABT Branch. “People came to learn, but they also came to connect with healthcare professionals, with patient partners, and with others who understand the kidney journey. We’re excited to return this year and continue building that supportive community in Grande Prairie.”
The event is free. However, registration is required as space is limited.
“The success of last year’s event reinforced how valuable it is to bring education and support directly into communities, and our goal is to empower people with knowledge while creating a space where they feel seen, supported, and connected,” adds Gendreau. “When people have access to reliable information and a network of support, they feel more confident navigating kidney disease and transplantation.”
Whether you are newly diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, awaiting a transplant, living post-transplant, supporting a loved one, considering organ donation, or simply want to learn more, Gendreau says this event is designed for you. The forum will take place on April, 25, at Northwestern Polytechnic.
