RCMP seeking dashcam footage in connection to Highway 43 pedestrian death

Clairmont RCMP is seeking dashcam footage in connection to an alleged fatal hit-and-run on Highway 43.

Mounties say that at around 3:15 a.m. on April 7th police received a report of a male sitting on Highway 43, west of Range Road 55. Police say when they arrived on scene the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

Police believe the male was possibly hit by a semi-truck. Mounties added that the vehicle did not remain on scene.

RCMP would like to speak to the driver that was hauling a van trailer going east on Highway 43 who was stopped on scene, but left before police arrived.

In attempt to find the driver, a roadblock was set up by Valleyview RCMP but the suspect vehicle was not located.

Police is asking for dashcam footage in the area of Highway 43 near Range Road 55, between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

Anyone who saw the pedestrian in the area, is also asked to contact the Clairmont RCMP.
