Stanley Cup a surprise for Pee Wee hockey team

A local minor hockey team received a very special surprise before their practice yesterday. Scotiabank brought in the Stanley Cup for the Boston Pizza Pee Wee AA Knights hockey team to the locker room. Captain of the team, Dayne Tews says it was a very welcome surprise.

“I just got very excited. I hope one day I can hold [the Stanley Cup].”
 
Tews says the surprise will be big motivation for his team to play hard. The kids were able to pose for pictures and touch the Stanley Cup.

Coach Shane Manteeman and on other were the only people who knew about the surprise. Manteeman says the it was one of the top moments of the year.

“That’s something to strive for years to come. Even in their own personal endeavors and even in the season, [the Stanley Cup] is still something to shoot for.”

After their practice, the team had a reception with snacks and more time with the Stanley Cup.
