$5,000 raised from Battle of the Badges

The recent battle of the badges hockey game nets in just over $5,000 in donations for the Odyssey House.

The hockey game took place on Nov. 30th, and featured multiple different local firefighters and police officers. To view the game, you we’re asked to make a cash donation towards the Odyssey House, and with the help from the community, the game raised $5,043.

Executive Director for the shelter, Mikaela Benson says the donation came at the perfect time for the charity.

“The donation couldn’t have came at a better time. We know with the recent mental health statistics that have been coming out in the last few years, that this can be a really challenging time of year.”

Benson mentioned that the event as a whole, spotlights more then just the Odyssey House.

“This particular event is a really interesting opportunity to highlight the importance of community collaboration and connectiveness, and shines a light the true caring nature of our first responders in the community.”
