GPPL to host mid-day countdown for New Year’s Eve

Kids in Grande Prairie can celebrate New Year’s Eve a little early on Wednesday at the Grande Prairie Public Library, as they will be hosting their own countdown.

The library countdown will follow the same format as a traditional New Year’s Eve celebration, but children will count down the minutes from 11 a.m. to noon.

Bailey Randolph, Head of Children’s and Teen Services at the library, said this is the fourth year the library has hosted the event.

“Noon Year’s Eve has become a special tradition for families who want to celebrate together without staying up late. There are very few free, daytime New Year’s events for families with young children,” Randolph said.

Activities during the mid-day event include making New Year masks and noisemakers, adding wishes to a wishing wall, and dancing on the library floor.

The event is free and does not require registration.
