Royal Oaks Principal designate experienced in arts integration

Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools have found a principal for their new school in Royal Oaks. The K to 9 school is on pace to open next fall with Shelley LaCroix at the helm.

LaCroix has spent her entire career with the Catholic district, and is currently a Teaching Principal at St. John Bosco School. She recently completed her Master’s, where she researched how integrating arts into core curriculum can improve student engagement.

Superintendent Karl Germann explains that the new Royal Oaks School will embrace an Integrated Arts Education Model like the Calgary Arts Academy. It will be the district’s biggest elementary school yet, with a drama space and dance studio.

Registration for families in the neighbourhood starts February 1st and opens for those outside Royal Oaks in March.
