Young girl killed in Highway 2 collision

A child has been killed in a collision near Nampa. A woman was driving four young children on Township Road 810 just before 6 p.m. RCMP says it was foggy out and it appears their pickup truck didn’t stop at a stop sign and hit a semi tractor trailer unit loaded with canola.

A girl was ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. The 34 year old woman and three girls under the age of seven have been taken to hospital. The woman is in serious condition, while the children don’t seem to have life threatening injuries. The semi driver was not hurt.

An investigation by Peace Regional RCMP is underway to see if any charges should be laid. It’s believed both the fog and the stop sign played a role.

The families of those involved have been notified and no names are being released.
